SD firmware upgrade not working

Hi, I just got the Firefly ROC 3588s SBC. I can not install debian or ububtu to it. I have downloaded both firmwares from the website https://en.t-firefly.com/doc/download/142.html

I use the rockchip SD card tool, with 8gb microSD formatted to fat32. I can create the image on the SD card using the ‘upgrade firmware’ option, but when it is finished and I plug in the microSD to the 3588s, all I see is the firefly logo on the display and it never loads the installer.
